Sharon B. Parker, Artist and Instructor
Sharon B. Parker has been working professionally as an artist and art teacher since 1988, and is a longtime resident of Virginia. She and her husband, Louron, and son, Adam, have lived in Williamsburg for over 25 years. Sharon’s work has been shown regionally, and is in private and public collections. Her education at William and Mary in Fine Art and Education, along with workshops by such artists as Arne Westermann, Lori Putnam, and Mary Todd Beam have provided a valuable foundation for her art career. Her art teaching career at Williamsburg Christian Academy brought her much joy and she treasures the many students who touched her life there.
At this season of her life, she is now able to devote more of her time to creating artwork, mainly in watercolor. On Wednesday mornings, she is part of the Wednesday Studio Painters, a talented local group of artists who get together to paint and exhibit.
Sharon's latest gallery representation is at Gallery 15 in Irvington, Virginia, a beautiful gallery on the Northern Neck. Her main gallery representation is at New Town Art Gallery in Williamsburg, where she is a founding owner/member along with 11 exceptional local artists. Seasonal receptions, special events, and a beautiful, rentable space add to the uniqueness of New Town Art Gallery.
Sharon now teaches adult and youth art classes exclusively for This Century Art Gallery/Williamsburg Art Center, where she has taught for 11 years, and where she also exhibits. Every Friday from 10 a.m. to noon at the Art Education Center, Sharon facilitates an Open Studio where local artists have the opportunity to do life-drawing and painting. A new venture is Art Parties, where groups can come create a painting in a few hours while enjoying refreshments and comraderie!
